CBSE Board Exam 2019: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the Class 12 Chemistry Board Exam 2019 tomorrow, March 12.

Many students have a fear of Chemistry because of which they start cramming the concepts instead of understanding them, which leads to poor performance in the final exam.

CBSE Board Exam 2019: Details

The CBSE Class 12 board exam 2019 for main subjects started on March 2.

The CBSE board exams 2019 is being held at 4,974 examination centres.

Moreover, a total of 4,510 and 2,846 differently-abled candidates have registered for class 10 and class 12 examinations respectively.

CBSE Class 12 Chemistry Board Exam 2019: Question-wise distribution of marks

  • Question numbers 1 to 5 are very short answer type, carrying 1 mark each
  • Question numbers 6 to 10 are short answer type, carrying 2 marks each
  • Question numbers 11 to 22 are short answer type, carrying 3 marks each
  • Question number 23 is a value based question carrying 4 marks
  • Question number 24 to 26 is long answer type, carrying 5 marks each.

CBSE Class 12 Chemistry Board Exam 2019: Exam day instructions

  • Entry in the exam center will be from 9 am to 10 am only. No candidate shall be allowed thereafter
  • Candidate is advised to carry only BLUE/ROYAL BLUE BALL POINT/GEL/FOUNTAIN pen
  • Candidate is advised to carry only permissible items at the examination center as given in admit card
  • Regular candidates should come for examination in school uniform only
  • Private candidates to wear light clothes only
  • Candidate will only appear in subjects offered by him/her
  • Candidate should occupy the seat allotted to him/her against the roll number
  • Candidate should read the instructions carefully given in answer book and question paper
  • Candidate should fill in relevant and correct details on answer book and question paper
  • Candidate should not indulge in any unfair practice. If found, will be booked under unfair means (UFM) category and action will be taken as per rules of the board

Tips to score good marks in Class 12 chemistry board exam:

  • If you are good in calculation and formula application part, you can score well in physical chemistry. Prepare a chart of important formulas and practice numerical on each one of them
  • The theory part should also be revised as well. Some important chapters like Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics and Solutions can be given extra attention
  • Inorganic chemistry requires lots of learning. It is advisable to read your textbook (e.g.: NCERT) well as it will also help you with Competitive Exams
  • You can prepare short notes of various processes, reactions and preparations. Usually, the questions are directly asked from the textbook. So, by giving some extra time and with regular revision, you can easily score in Inorganic Chemistry
  • Organic Chemistry is very interesting and a scoring section provided you have understood the basic concepts. So, do not try to cram the information
  • You can give last minute focus on named reactions in haloalkenes and haloarenes, distinguishing tests between (a) Aldehyde-Ketone (b) Phenols-Carboxylic Acid (c) 1, 2, 3 amines (d) 1,2,3 alcohols
  • The student can also practice reasoning questions related to acidic, basic characters, melting and boiling points, comparison of isomeric compounds, mechanism of named reactions e.g., Reimer - Tiemann; Aldol; Kolbe; SN1, SN2
  • Try to remain calm in the examination hall and read the questions properly
  • For long answers, you can prepare one skeleton of the answer, while in short or very short answer questions, be crisp and give straight answer to the problem.

CBSE Board Exams 2019: Other important instructions

  • All the students without school uniform will not be allowed to take the exam
  • Apart from the signatures of student and principal, CBSE has made a separate column for the signatures of parents. This year, the board has directed the students to get their admit cards signed by the parents too
  • No student will be allowed to enter the examination centre after 10 am at any cost.
